New Subaru Crosstrek

What's New in the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek?

If you need a crossover with offroad capabilities, the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek might be a great choice. The second generation of this Subaru model was introduced in 2018, and for the 2021 model, Subaru refreshed the car to make it look even better inside and outside. Most of the changes in the car are aesthetic, including a new trim, but it also has a more powerful engine that is sure to turn heads around San Bernardino, CA.

Changes on the Exterior

If you are not keen on the Crosstrek's previous iterations, you might not notice any changes on the exterior of the 2021 Crosstrek. The standard models only feature a new grille and simple fog light inserts. These minimal changes make the car look sleeker.

To top it all up, Subaru introduced a new trim, the Crosstrek Sport, that allows you to go off-road in Ontario, CA, with plenty of power. While it isn't the ultimate off-roading SUV, its off-roading features make it an exciting choice. This new trim looks different from all the other trims. You can have the Sport in all seven exterior shades and two additional shades-Plasma Yellow and Horizon Blue Pearl.

From the front, the Sport trim comes in a gunmetal finish. On its bumper is a black plastic cladding, but its wheel arches look impressive. The cladding on the new sport trim looks distinct from all other trims. Its wing mirrors have the same gunmetal finish on the grille too. The Sport runs on 17-inch wheels.

What's New on the Inside?

The new 2021 Subaru Crosstrek looks posh with the new Sport trim receiving all the best features as in the previously top Limited trim. Some of the great features inside the Limited, Hybrid, and Sport model include:

  • Six-way power driver's seat
  • Starlink 8.0-inch multimedia system
  • Keyless access

Subaru also uses its new StarTex upholstery in this new model. The upholstery comes with yellow stitching to give it a distinct look. This yellow stitching extends to the car's armrests, door panel, floor mats, console, steering wheel, and everywhere else the car needs stitching. The yellow color appears to be the central theme in the car as it is repeated in many other aspects of the car.

The StarLink infotainment system delivers a lot of connectivity and allows you to navigate the everyday use of the car. It comes standard with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration, Bluetooth, and USB ports. The standard trims feature a 6.5-inch screen while the top trims have an 8.0-inch screen.  In the top trim, the SiriusXM satellite radio and a few other navigational apps come standard, allowing you excellent drivability in Rancho Cucamonga, CA.

How Safe is the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek?

Subaru cars are known for their safety features. First, the engine keeps the car stable by having a lower center of gravity. The Subaru platform further makes the engine perform exceptionally on and off the road. Some of the safety features on the new 2021 Subaru Crosstrek include:

  • EyeSight driver assist
  • Pre-collision braking
  • Advanced adaptive cruise control
  • Lane centering

All these features work together to deliver a safe drive at all times in Fontana, CA. Subaru's dedication to safety continues with the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek. Most of the safety features help offer better braking in case of an emergency to prevent accidents.

The All-New Powerful Engine

The Subaru Global Platform ensures that all new engines perform efficiently to meet your needs on and off the road. For the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek, Subaru uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. This is the same engine on the 2019 Forester, and it makes the car more powerful when you need to drive off-road.

The engine produces 182 horsepower with 176 pound-feet of torque. This engine transmits power through the Lineartronic continuously variable automatic transmission. This CVT is only available as an option on other models. The Sport and Limited trims have the most powerful engines.

The new Sport Trim gets upgraded features and is available in snow/dirt and snow/mud modes. Its Hill Descent Control further makes it an ideal choice when you are driving on rough terrain.

On the standard trims, Subaru uses the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine as in the previous models. This engine produces 152 horsepower with 145 pound-feet of torque. It transmits power through a six-speed manual gearbox. This engine will continue in the Base and Premium trims until Subaru changes that later on. Subaru offers an optional CVT gear for these trims. The CVT is excellent when you need fuel efficiency, but sometimes the engine offers lousy performance.

All trims with the CVT gearbox comes with eight-speed manual mode, offering you more control and better drivability. The Base trim sports a Low-Shift Mode that gives the driver more control when descending hills around Riverside, CA.

How Efficient is the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek?

Subaru made the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek consume as little fuel as possible. The new 2.5-liter engine has a fuel efficiency of 27 mpg and 34 mpg in the city and on the highway, respectively. That is a combined mpg of 29.

The conventional 2.0-liter engine offers 28, 33, and 30 mpg in the city, on the highway, and combined mpg, respectively, when paired with a CVT gearbox. When paired with the manual transmission, the engine offers 22, 29, and 25 mpg in the city, on the highway, and combined, respectively.
