What's New for the 2021 Subaru Ascent?

The 2021 Subaru Ascent has new standard features, including automatic high beams and LED headlights that move with the steering wheel to enhance visibility. All models now have seatbelt chimes for all three rows of seats to remind occupants to buckle up for safety.

Safety features

The new Ascent already has a wide range of standard safety features. You get adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, forward automatic emergency braking, and lane departure with sway warning. There's also lane centering and lane keep assist, pre-collision throttle management, and a rear-seat reminder system. You also get a rearview camera and steering-responsive LED headlights standard too.

There are other advanced safety features available like blind-spot monitoring, front-view camera, lane change assist,  and LED fog lights. You can also get rain-sensing windshield wipers, rear cross-traffic alert, reverse automatic emergency braking, and a rear-vision mirror camera.

Interior

The interior of the 2021 Subaru Ascent uses high-quality materials for a comfortable cabin. With stain-resistant upholstery available, the Ascent can handle whatever you throw at it and keep you comfortable on everything from short errands to long road trips.

There's a lot of cargo space in the Ascent with 17.8 cubic feet behind the third row of seats. With the back row down, you get 47.5 cubic feet of space. With the back two rows of seats down, you have 86.5 cubic feet of space behind the front row seats. The amount of available cargo space puts the Ascent near the front of its class.

New Subaru Ascent

You can seat up to eight people in the standard layout with the rear bench seats. With bucket seats in the second row, available for all but the base models, you can seat seven. Regardless of the interior configuration, the Ascent offers plenty of room for passengers, especially in the front two rows of seats. The third row offers comfortable adult seating, too.

As a bonus, there's also storage space under the cargo floor with roof rails for additional cargo needs. The Ascent has a power liftgate standard.

Technology

The Ascent has a nice selection of standard tech features. With the Starlink infotainment system, you get controls that are easy to use. Physical knobs make it easy to change the temperature and volume. The standard touch screen is 6.5 inches, and there are four USB ports available with two in the front row and two in the second row.

You also get Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Bluetooth integration standard along with six speakers and satellite radio.

Other tech features are available. You can get an 8-inch touch screen, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and two USB ports in the third row. Navigation, second-row climate controls, remote engine start, push-button start, and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon audio system are also available.

The 2022 Subaru Ascent Trim Levels

The Subaru Ascent is the largest SUV in Subaru's lineup. With three-row seating for up to eight passengers, this SUV is a great family vehicle. Now that the 2022 Subaru Ascent is at our San Bernadino dealership, we want to go over what each trim has to offer, so keep reading to learn more.

Ascent Base

Coming standard in the base trim and across all trims of the Subaru Ascent is a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and an all-wheel drivetrain. This engine can output 260 horsepower and 277 pounds of torque while offering 2,000 pounds of towing. As for its features, this trim comes with a 6.5-inch infotainment screen, adaptive cruise control, a lane-keeping system, and more.

Premium

Ontario, CA residents who upgrade to the Premium trim will get an increase to their towing capacity, up to 5,000 pounds. As for its additional features, drivers will get a power-adjustable driver's seat, heated front seats, an eight-inch touchscreen, and a blind-spot monitor. Rancho Cucamonga residents will also have the option to add a second row of captain chairs, but this will decrease the seating to seven occupants.

Onyx Edition

The Onyx Edition offers the same features as the Base and Premium. Additionally, this trim offers several unique features such as LED fog lights, a Black grille, and exterior trim, and simulated leather upholstery.

Limited

Building upon the Premium trim, the Limited offers a heated steering wheel, heated second-row seats, leather upholstery, and folding mirrors with integrated turn signals.

Touring

As the highest trim level, the Touring adds to everything Limited has to offer. Fontana and Riverside, CA locals will enjoy the features this trim offers, such as a1 20-volt power outlet, a 180-degree forward parking camera, a 14-speaker audio system, a navigation system, and a panoramic sunroof.
